Yes, I think is your best shot right now.

I was asking about the LDAP because I saw that 8.5.2FP2 fixes some issues related with sametime awareness.
I don't know if your problem has something to do with that, but you never know ... perhaps is in some way related.

You could try to upgrade to FP2
